Thinking of a memorial for your loved one?

Posted on July 31st, 2017

We are big advocates of doing things your own way both in life and death and believe a memorial should be no exception.

Having a memorial as a lasting memory of a loved one who has died provides comfort for many and a place for reflection.  Memorials may contain ashes or simply be a tribute to say – although absent you are still loved and still missed.

Have you been thinking about a memorial for a loved one?  There are really no dos and don’ts apart from some practical and legal considerations.

There is a great deal of choice allowing you to have a very personal tribute whether you are thinking of something traditional or more unusual.

The traditional options can still be very personal – cemetery headstones and plaques can be traditional or contemporary designs reflecting your loved one.  Urns have been revolutionised in recent years and many are beautiful works of art in their own right.  Garden memorials such as trees and benches remain very popular with sun dials and sculptures adding to the choices available. Jewellery made from ashes are very intimate memorials and range from pendants to keyrings and tie pins.

But perhaps you would prefer something a little more public? Again, the options are endless from a brick in a civic building, a memorial horse race, a presentation cup for an event or even a cocktail named in your loved ones honour on a menu of your favourite restaurant.

The Freedom Funerals team are on hand to help. Whatever you wishes we will give you the freedom to choose a fitting memorial for your loved one.
